Brooke Kahn, Psy.D.

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Hi, I’m Dr. Brooke Kahn (she/her/hers), a Licensed Clinical Psychologist.

I'm personally located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, and I work with individual adult clients throughout the US in PSYPACT-participating states online, via telehealth.

For 15 years I have had the privilege of supporting people as a therapist. I have worked with people of all ages providing individual, couple, family, and group therapy services across a number of settings including nonprofit community mental health centers, university counseling centers, and private practice. I have helped people of many different backgrounds address a wide range of mental health concerns.

We are all shaped by culture, identity, and experiences. I prioritize creating an inclusive and welcoming environment such that you feel seen, heard, and valued. I strive to offer a safe and affirming space to clients of all racial and ethnic identities, national origins, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, sizes, and religions.

My approach to therapy is tailored to you.

I will work with you to identify the areas you would like to address, and together we will come up with a plan. We may look at the impact of the past on the present, relationships, and stressors, as well as thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and values. I strive to create a nonjudgmental space where you can be your authentic self, feel seen and supported, and also challenged!

I use interventions from a variety of theoretical orientations, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), psychodynamic therapy, and solution-focused therapy. My approach is strengths-based, compassion-focused, culturally-sensitive, and supportive.

For many clients, a combination of insight-oriented and behavior-focused approaches strikes the balance of helping them to better understand and be compassionate towards themselves, while encouraging them to find and embrace their sense of agency and make the types of changes they would like to see in their lives. We will work together to figure out how to best meet your needs.

Let’s collaborate!
